By engaging U.S. veterans as mentors for inner-city youth, rich and powerful opportunities of healing take place in the midst of Mother Nature.
In 2020-21, Soul River applied a Roundhouse Foundation grant to develop curriculum for an Environmental Deployment Program that identifies environmental issues centered around wildlife, rivers, environmental justice and social justice, which is then integrated into a field curriculum that includes outdoor leadership skills training, fly fishing, science, congressional presentations, Indigenous relations and advocacy for youth mentored by U.S veterans.
Through genuine community and connection to the outdoors, Soul River seeks to establish and inspire a new generation of outdoor ambassadors that will advocate for Mother Nature and conservation.
