Summer Arts Program Intern

The Summer Arts Program Intern assists with our Residency program in Sisters, Oregon. The Residency program provides a special retreat for art making, creativity, collaborative projects, multidisciplinary projects, scientific research and scholarly discourse. This visually stimulating part of the country has historically provided and continues to provide significant inspiration to artists, writers, scientists, and scholars. The theme of the 2022 residency program is Coexistence and Regeneration. The Intern will have the opportunity to work with cultural organizations throughout the community to share programming opportunities within the schools and other locations.

Summer Land Management Intern

The Summer Land Management Intern will support the riparian restoration program at Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & Agriculture (PMRCAA). PMRCAA is beginning a multi-phase process to rehabilitate the Whychus Creek riparian zone, located within 60 acres of working forest land. This position will assist with Phase 1 of this project by designing, implementing, and recording the efficacy of various organic treatments used to eradicate noxious weeds along the banks of Whychus Creek. This position will be charged with developing a formal report of the experiment’s findings upon completion of the next phase of this project. The intern will assist with general land management projects at PMRCAA, including fuels reduction, trail improvements, planting, weeding, seed collection, irrigation management, and plant propagation.

Summer Agricultural Intern

The Summer Agricultural Intern will support the regenerative agricultural gardens and ranch operations at Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & Agriculture (PMRCAA). PMRCAA has established a variety of gardens including a kitchen vegetable garden, textile dying garden, native pollinator garden and other crops.  In addition, PMRCAA is in the process of restoring 200 acres of pastureland using a variety of regenerative practices.  This position is charged with learning about regenerative agriculture as it relates to both small-production agriculture and pasture re-development. The Agricultural Intern will help develop a formal report of the plans and process of pasture redevelopment steps for 2022. The intern will assist with general land management projects at PMRCAA, including fuels reduction, trail improvements, planting, weeding, seed collection, irrigation management, and plant propagation.
